We (John and Sarah) started Hounds Home from Home (HHFH) in 2016 having looked after dogs for another dog care company. We loved it so much that we decided to set up our own business.
Having both had professional careers spanning more than 30 years in industry, we wanted to find a way of life that encompassed what we enjoyed and that was less stressful. We both grew up with dogs and had really missed them during our working, global travelling and having children years. Now seemed to be the perfect time to start our own business and get our own dog.
The main reason we had not committed to having a dog of our own was that we still wanted to go for days out and away on holiday with the family and didn’t have anyone to look after our pooch, who we would consider part of our family. So, the idea of setting up a dog care business that would do just this felt right.
Our philosophy is that dogs are part of our families. We want to take them with us when we can, but this isn’t always possible. When we can’t it is good to know they will be well looked after in a home environment. This is what HHFH aims to provide, a happy, safe homely environment for you to leave your dog whether it be whilst you work, go on holiday, have weekends away, an evening out, a day out, an emergency ….. whatever it may be.
We don’t have strict opening hours, and are always willing to try and accommodate individual requests where we can. So, if you are not sure just ask us.
John and Sarah with Trinity, our Jorkie, who loves to help make our dog guests feel welcome.
We are both keen to widen our understanding and current thinking of the best ways of looking after dogs, whether this be the psychology of dogs, training or nutrition. A greater understanding helps us to ensure your dog will be well kept and happy in our home.
John is therefore currently studying for a diploma in dog training and behaviour.
We are both Dog First Aid trained.
